How the Petitioner or Protected Party is Populated depending on who is filing (including filing on behalf of someone else)

This article helps explain the different situations of who is petitioning and for protecting whom, for a Civil Protection Order (CPOs) in Washington as defined in the Revised Code of Washington RCW 7.105.100 Filing—Types of petitions

Then it explains how LegalAtoms questionnaires populate the different official Washington Court forms for CPOS.

The audience for this article are court staff, non profits, lawyers, legal interns who have to serve a variety of situations and may want to know how or why a certain form is populated in a certain way.

This is where the Petition court form seems to generalize the RCW for DVPO with the other 3 (SAPO, SPO, AHPO) for simplicity.

As per RCW :

Domestic Violence allows for one or more household or family members who are

  • minors
  • vulnerable adults

 

Anti-Harassment, Sexual-Assault, Stalking -- allows for a single

  • minor for whom the petitioner is parent or guardian or custodian
  • vulnerable adult
  • adult who needs help
