Hi! My name is Dr. Deirdre Bowen. I am a professor at the Seattle University School of Law. The information that I am about to provide to you should be taken as just that: information and not legal advice. One of the things that you may have come across in doing initial research about the dissolution of your marriage or your domestic partnership, is something called a parenting plan. A parenting plan is a document that you and your spouse will fill out and addresses how you and your spouse (or former partner) will parent your children together going forward.  That document includes things like where the children will live; how long the children will stay at that particular location; what holidays will be spent where; what decisions will be made regarding school, healthcare, outside activities. These are all things that you and your former partner can decide and fill out together.
