What’s included
Everything a legal aid organization needs to help people find the right next step.
- A full nonprofit website: home, about, team, annual reports, get help, offices, clinics, donate, volunteer, events, careers, news and contact pages.
- “What would you like to do?” quick actions that guide visitors to the right help in one click.
- 12 court-case guides (Florida): domestic violence, stalking, repeat, dating and sexual violence, vulnerable-adult exploitation, risk protection orders, Baker Act, Marchman Act, small claims, evictions and divorce.
- Step-by-step process timelines with animated icons, from gathering evidence to the final order.
- Plain-language FAQs for every case type.
- Official court forms listed by form number, each linked to its source and explained in plain bullets.
- “Start my case” buttons that open the matching guided interview in LegalAtoms, so clients can prepare their court documents online.
- Safety and accessibility: a Quick Exit button, calm trauma-informed design, and mobile-friendly layouts.
Why nonprofits use it
Spend your time helping clients, not building a website.
Launch in an afternoon
Skip months of design and content work. Start from a site that already explains the most common civil legal problems.
Low, predictable cost
The kit is free. You only pay for hosting, typically $50 to $150 a year.
Built for people in crisis
Plain language, quick-exit safety, and clear next steps help survivors and tenants act fast.
Serve more people
Clients prepare their own court forms with LegalAtoms guided interviews, so staff can focus on advice and representation.
Yours to own
It is standard WordPress. Host it anywhere, edit it yourself, and move it whenever you like. No lock-in.
Easy to adapt
Rename it, recolor it, and update the court pages for your state using the same layout.
Hosting options and annual costs
Any WordPress host that allows plugins will work. These three are popular with small nonprofits.
| Host and plan | First year (approx.) | Each year after (approx.) | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress.comPersonal plan, paid yearly | About $48includes a free domain for year one | About $48 + domain ($15 to $25)about $65 to $75 a year | Simplest to manage: updates, security and backups are handled for you. The free plan cannot install plugins, so choose Personal or higher. |
| HostingerPremium WordPress plan | About $120 up frontcovers 4 years at $2.49/month, free domain for year one | About $132 at renewal$10.99/month, plus domain after year one | Lowest cost if you prepay several years. Easy one-click WordPress setup. |

Questions
Short answers to what nonprofits ask most.
Is the starter kit really free?
Yes. The website kit is free to download and use. You only pay your hosting company. LegalAtoms guided interviews linked from the site have their own free and paid options.
Do I need a developer?
No. If you can install an app on your phone, you can follow the setup guide. Everything is point-and-click inside WordPress.
We are not in Florida. Can we still use it?
Yes. The general pages work anywhere. The court-case guides are written for Florida as an example, so review and update the steps, forms and links for your state before you launch.
Will it change our existing website?
Only if you import it into that site, so don’t. Always import into a brand-new WordPress site. Your current website is not affected.
The upload stops or says the file is too large. What now?
Ask your host to raise the WordPress upload limit to at least 64 MB, then try again. Most hosts can do this in a few minutes.
Can LegalAtoms help us set it up?
Yes. Create a free LegalAtoms account and reach out. We are happy to help nonprofits get started.
